- Sydney Estelle Moore was born on a Thursday, September 6, 1990. I, her grandmother, Nancy Estelle Hadlock Moore was born September 22, 1937 in Bangkok, Siam. My father, Edwin Harold Hadlock, was born September 17, 1901 in South Gorham, Maine. His mother, Edith Mae Knight was born September 13--the year I don't know for sure but roughly 1880, and I suppose in South Gorham, Maine.

- The 13th birthday of our dalmation, Dixie Belle. Yesterday I sat Sydney down on the changing table and she caught sight of her shampoo bottle with the doll head. She said hi to it over and over. I love to watch Sydney jump in her swing, but she gets going so fast, it makes me dizzy to watch her, but yet I can't take my eyes off of her.

- Dear little Sydney came over to visit us wearing a pretty dress. She's sleeping on the bed next to me. I have been proofing Theral's and Daddy's book. I decided tonight that Sydney looked very much like her father.

- I have two little rubber toys for Sydney which I bought at Canine Care Center for Dixie, but they were so cute and they squeak, so I saved them for Sydney. She likes Bessie the cow better. Theral is so afraid of the cow's tail poking Sydney in the eye. I got on the elevator today with two girls one of which is in Steven's class. The one was saying to the other, he is so cool and nice, over and over, not realizing I was teacher's mother. Dixie and Maddie remain jealous of Sydney. Maddie got into a fight with Dixie again when I went to put the pacifier back in Sydney's mouth.

- Steve and Alicia have been married 3 years today. Sydney is wearing an adorable pink overall outfit with a big white collar. I told her she had the best grandfather in the world. He just holds her and carries her around so quietly. Earlier, we tried her in the playpen in our room. Theral had gotten her to sleep. Then David came by to put the bags of leaves out front, and he playfully jumped the fence on the south side and scared all 3 dogs outside--Maddie, Mookie, and Highway and got them barking. Mookie is in heat and Steve hadn't had a chance to walk his 2 so brought them right along. Dixie, I keep separated. She is 91 in human years. Sydney is sound asleep on our bed.

- When I drove to dear little Sydney's house right before 2:00, I discovered a big hole in the side yard where I always pull into the back. I wonder if the greedy developer is turning the brick houses into row houses. I had to park a block away. Tracy, Alicia's second cousin, was hanging out there. Tracy is a nurse at Shands. Cousin Scott happened by and they turned on the CNN tape of Cousin Brian Knowles, a Lt. in the Marines being interviewed in Kuwait along with 2 others. When Tracy left right before 4:00pm, Sydney went right to sleep. Scott, you could tell wasn't interested in babies, but he took a 2nd look at Sydney and announced that she was a pretty baby!.

- Steve took Sydney, Theral and me to Morrison's (Theral paid) where we met Margaret and Minter. Sydney looked adorable sitting up in a high chair--the first time I had seen her sitting in one. She was pulling at the cracker under the plastic wrap covering the tray. Steve fed Sydney a few bites of my mashed potatoes. They were well peppered. Steve let Sydney lick his lemon slice - she hardly made a face. He gave her ice tea from his glass - she is a good sipper, but she had never encountered crushed ice before, so, uttered little scared sounds.

- Sydney is 6 months old today. She has been sound asleep for over 2 1/2 hours. Her grandpa gave her the bottle and rocked her to sleep. Sunday night Alicia took Sydney to West Palm Beach where Sydney's great grandfather Knowles had bypass surgery yesterday, the 5th. He is doing well. Alicia and Sydney came back to Gainesville this morning. Sydney's Grandma Conrad reported that Sydney was a trooper - she had managed the day spent at the hospital very well. Sydney had spinach for supper. I fed it to her while Theral held her.

- Today I began sitting for Sydney sometime after 2:00pm although I got there earlier. Alicia was feeding Sydney fruit. I sat Sydney on a blanket on the floor - she kept wanting to lean over forward and put her hands on the floor. But soon she sat up. I would sort of hold on to her most of the time. She has a big see through rattle that she liked to shake. When it was my turn, I would do the two-bit Gator cheer. Denise came to see Sydney when Sydney was sound asleep and said do you mind if I wake her and snatched her right up. Sydney has too many admirers!

- Today is Monday. Sydney has been in South Florida with her parents visiting the Conrads. Sydney was really smiling a lot both in her daddy's arms and in her grandpa's arms. She went to the doctor's on Friday for her 6 month check. Steve answered a lot of questions about her development and Dr. Benton concluded that Sydney could do some things that eight month old babies could do. But Steve couldn't repeat what they were to me tonight. I reminded Steve how he could dial up his grandma when he was 3 years. Grandpa rocked Sydney to sleep.

- Today is Sydney's great grandma Hadlock's 81 birthday. Steve has been talking with his Grandma for quite awhile. Sydney is asleep in the play pen back in our bedroom. Theral is asleep on the bed. I bought Sydney a plush bunny rabbit tonight at Publix - to keep here.
